On top of the high end exotic metals such as 15CDV6, 25CrMo4, 4130 and BS4 T45 to BS5 T100 that we stock, ProFormance Metals designed and have manufactured our own grade of tube called ROPT510 (Roll over protection tube 510). Our custom carbon based tube contains the following properties:
Tensile strength: 510N/mm2 Minimum
0.2% Yield strength: 370N/mm2 minimum
Elongation: 25% minimum
These figures allow you to meet and exceed MSA and FIA Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) regulations. The ease of forming and welding has seen the ROPT510 being used and approved regularly by the FIA in their crash tests. The material was initially marketed at the clubman market for roll cage and race car preparation. With its reasonable price compared to the general CDS tubes available, some of which don’t meet MSA regulations has seen this material grow from strength to strength and is now used in Military applications for occupant safety, as well as critical components on vehicles.
The size range now caters for smaller components to be manufactured such as Motorcycle frames, Wishbones, Anti Roll bars, Chassis for Buggies etc.
